Export notification of chemicals

Here you will find all services for notifying exports of certain hazardous chemicals in accordance with the PIC Ordinance (implementation of the Rotterdam Convention).

Please use the electronic form to notify your exports of chemicals.

Exporters intending to exportsubstances subject to the PIC procedure (Annex 2) and/or substances banned or severely restricted in Switzerland for reasons of health or environmental protection (Annex 1), or preparations containing such substances, must send the FOEN an export notification for their first export in each calendar year and for each importing Party, by not later than 30 days prior to the date of the first export.

To notify an export, exporters fill in the electronic form ‘Export notification under the PIC Ordinance’ and download the safety data sheet. The completed form is transmitted electronically to the FOEN.

The FOEN checks that the data is complete and finalises the export notification. It also verifies that the notified export of substances and preparations subject to the PIC procedure (Annex 2) is likely to comply with the decision of the importing Party.

Within 15 days, the FOEN notifies the exporter by e-mail of the identification number of the export notification, which must be mentioned in the electronic customs declaration.

The FOEN sends the export notification for substances listed in Annex 1, or their preparations, to the importing Party no later than 15 days before the date of the first export.
